Hi and welcome to this JK B'HAM Crime Report for VPN: REGIONAL NETWORKS:

Maiel Abdulbaki has been convicted of manslaughter for the killing of Minh Thuc Tran, also known as Richard, at a property in Aston earlier this year. The incident occurred on January 15th, when Abdulbaki stabbed Tran in the back at an address on Arden Road. Despite the efforts of other residents to help Tran, the 43-year-old succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
Following the incident, Abdulbaki went on the run but was apprehended the next day after approaching police officers in Birmingham. He claimed to have been a victim of a stabbing, but officers recognized him and arrested him, still wearing the clothes he had on at the scene, which were stained with Tran's blood.
During the investigation, Abdulbaki claimed self-defense, stating that a series of incidents led to the stabbing. However, at Birmingham Crown Court, he was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter on July 24th. Detective Sergeant Chris Smith expressed hope that the verdict would bring some peace to Tran's family and commended the homicide team for their hard work in securing justice. Abdulbaki is set to be sentenced next month.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
