Hi and welcome to this video production news update.

Aminan Rahman, 46, faces a life sentence after being convicted of murdering 24-year-old Suma Begum in a tragic case that has shocked the nation. The harrowing events unfolded on the night of April 29 last year at their east London flat, witnessed by Ms. Begum's two children and her online boyfriend, Shahin Miah, who was in the UAE at the time.
Rahman, in a fit of jealousy, throttled his young wife during a video call, which Mr. Miah had recorded and later handed to the police. The distressing footage captured Rahman threatening Ms. Begum before violently attacking her, leading to her tragic death. Following the murder, Rahman callously disposed of Ms. Begum's body by stuffing it into a suitcase and dumping it in the River Lea, which flows through east London to the Thames. Ten days later, the decomposed suitcase washed up in Thamesmead, discovered by a mudlarker.
The court heard that Ms. Begum had married Rahman in an arranged Islamic ceremony over the phone in 2019 and moved to live with him in Somerset, where they had two children. However, she later connected with Mr. Miah via TikTok and WhatsApp, sparking a clandestine relationship that Rahman discovered but failed to dissolve. The prosecution argued that Rahman's actions were driven by jealousy and rage, exacerbated by cultural expectations and emotions.
During the trial at the Old Bailey, jurors were presented with compelling evidence, including CCTV footage and the crucial video call recording, which vividly depicted the events leading to Ms. Begum's death. Despite Rahman's claims of acting in defense of his children, the jury unanimously found him guilty of murder and other charges, rejecting his justifications as inconsistent and unsupported.
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, who led the investigation, emphasized the diligent efforts of Metropolitan Police detectives in gathering evidence and ensuring justice for Ms. Begum. "This case underscores our commitment to holding perpetrators of domestic violence accountable," stated DCI Allen. "Through meticulous analysis of CCTV and retrieval of crucial digital evidence, we pieced together the sequence of events that led to this tragic outcome."
Rahman's sentencing is scheduled for July 31 at the Old Bailey, where justice will be sought for Suma Begum and closure for her grieving family and friends.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
