Hi and welcome to this JK B'HAM Crime Report for VPN: REGIONAL NETWORKS:

In a chilling echo of the notorious Telford grooming gangs, two men who subjected a teenage schoolgirl to a night of 'the most depraved and disgusting abuse' in 2022 have been sentenced to prison. On Monday, July 8th, at Shrewsbury Crown Court, Stevan Marston of Auckland Road, Sparkbrook, received a nine-and-a-half-year sentence, while Yasser Mahmood of Abbots Road, Sparkbrook, was jailed for nine years. Both men will be eligible for release on licence after serving two-thirds of their sentences.
The pair were convicted in May for various offences committed during that night in May of 2022. Marston, who had "developed a sexual obsession" with the vulnerable schoolgirl whom the pair had first targeted one an evening in Telford a few months previously, groomed her and invited her to an address in Telford. He then texted Mahmood, who filmed himself driving an Audi at speeds of up to 111 mph on the M54 to join Marston at the Telford address.
Shrewsbury Crown Court, already haunted by the notorious Telford grooming cases, witnessed another distressing trial recounting acts of severe depravity: the girl was sexually assaulted and raped throughout the evening, left in pain and struggling to breathe as both men continually abused her, both individually and simultaneously Mahmood, who had bought alcohol, made drinks for the girl, while Marston took cocaine in front of her.
The victim endured a two-year journey to hold the culprits accountable. Her courage ensured that justice was served, preventing the men from potentially escaping punishment.
Marston was found guilty of causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, assaulting a female aged 13 and over by penetration, and possession of cocaine. Mahmood was convicted of rape, causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, and dangerous driving.
Jailing both men, Judge Peter Barrie condemned their actions: "Between the two of you, you set about an evening and night of the most depraved and disgusting sexual abuse of her." He noted Marston's sexual obsession with the girl and remarked on her profound psychological damage, describing her as "clearly highly vulnerable."
Both men will face additional penalties. Mahmood received a seven-year driving ban and must take an extended test before driving again. Ten-year restraining orders were also imposed, preventing either man from contacting the victim or her immediate family.
Defense counsel for the men said the culprits acknowledged their punishment. Marston's counsel put forward good references, and Mahmood's representative, Mr. Callum Church, noted that Mahmood had taken steps to change his life.
Detective Constable Rob Allcock, from Telford’s Child Sexual Exploitation Team, commended the victim's bravery throughout the investigation and trial, expressing hope that the sentences would help her gain closure. “Both men are dangerous individuals who preyed on a young girl, and it is incomprehensible that they would commit such crimes,” he said.Detective Constable Rob Allcock, from Telford’s Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: “We welcome the sentence that has been handed to both Marston and Mahmood.

The previous Prime Minister of the UK, Rishi Sunak, had set up a taskforce to ensure that lessons were learned from the 2012 abuse scandal and that authorities take effective action on abuse gangs.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
