Hi and welcome to this Jason King B'ham Insight for VPN: REGIONAL NETWORK:

A man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for causing a fatal collision in Nechells, Birmingham.
Muhammed Waqas, 22, of Dolphin Road, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
On May 1st last year, Waqas was driving an Audi SQ5 at speeds between 102 and 108 mph in a 40 mph zone when he lost control and crashed into a tree, resulting in the death of his 19-year-old passenger.
Waqas has also been disqualified from driving for nine years. Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes emphasised the preventable nature of the tragedy and the critical importance of adhering to lawful speed limits.
While nothing will bring the victim back, the 8-year sentence will hopefully serve as a warning that there is no excuse for the wildly reckless behaviour of driving at over 100mph in a 40 zone and that wannabe race drivers belong either on a racetrack or at a video games console.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
