A Police officer has admitted guilt to charges under the Terrorism Act after sharing images on WhatsApp in support of the proscribed organization Hamas. The officer, identified as PC Mohammed Adil, 26, appeared in court after an investigation directed by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The charges stem from images he shared during October and November 2023.


During the court proceedings, Adil, currently suspended from duty, confessed to two counts of publishing images in support of Hamas at Westminster Magistrates' Court. The images shared depicted messages glorifying Hamas's actions and leaders, disseminating propaganda deemed supportive of terrorist activities.


Prosecutor Bridget Fitzpatrick elaborated on why Hamas is considered a prescribed terrorist organization, highlighting its involvement in attacks and its designation by various governments.
