"Reckless Driver Mohammed Asif Sentenced After Fatal Collision"

A speeding driver, Mohammed Asif, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for causing a fatal crash on the M42 near Solihull. The incident occurred on September 3, 2022, when Asif, driving at over 100mph in his Audi Q7, collided with a Skoda Rapid. The crash resulted in the death of 53-year-old Marzena Kaczorowska, who succumbed to severe head and chest injuries two weeks later. Her partner, Najmul Wlodzimierz, who was driving, survived with injuries.

Asif, from Coventry, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on June 13. Along with his prison term, Asif has been disqualified from driving for four years following his release and will need to pass an extended driving test.

Marzena’s heartbroken partner, Najmul Wlodzimierz, described his life partner of over 21 years as "wonderful." He was taking her to Birmingham Airport so she could visit her family in Poland, whom she had not seen for a year and was extremely excited to meet. He said. "I am totally lost without her, and the loneliness is crippling. I am just existing without her.”

Sgt Julie Lyman from West Midlands Police's serious collision investigation unit stated, “Asif showed a total disregard for the safety of other road users. The speed he was travelling at on the day was totally mindless and irresponsible. His actions have devastated the family of the deceased lady, including her partner who was driving the car at the time of the collision. I just hope the sentencing provides some comfort as they begin to try and rebuild their shattered lives.”
