A Met police officer sustained serious injuries to his shoulder while attempting to apprehend a knife-wielding suspect in a residential street in Enfield, North London.


The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon on Mandeville Road, following reports of a man with a knife at 4:20 pm. Upon arrival, officers confronted the armed individual, leading to a confrontation during which the officer was stabbed. Fellow officers swiftly intervened, applying a tourniquet to stem the bleeding before administering first aid.


The injured officer was subsequently transported to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service and is currently in stable condition. A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.


Assistant Commissioner Matt Jukes commended the injured officer for his bravery, highlighting his selfless actions in apprehending the suspect and protecting the public. Jukes also praised the professionalism of the police medic and other colleagues involved in providing vital assistance.


Jukes emphasized the officer's dedication to duty and the challenges faced by police officers in ensuring public safety. He extended gratitude to the NHS and assured the community of a swift response to the incident and a thorough investigation.
