Hi and welcome to this Video Production News Crime Report.

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a harrowing knife attack in Stratford that left the victim with life-changing injuries.

Police were called to Elis Way, Stratford, at approximately 9:10pm on Monday, 19 August, after reports of a serious assault. Upon arrival, officers found 36-year-old Tom Savage suffering from significant stab wounds to the head, abdomen, and back. Mr. Savage was rushed to the hospital, where he spent six and a half weeks undergoing extensive treatment.

In a statement released last month, Mr. Savage described the terrifying ordeal and his long road to recovery;

“I felt no pain during the attack,”

he further said.

“I was aware pretty early that I was in quite a bit of trouble.” L

Recalling his experience in the hospital, he said::

“You lose all dignity in hospital when you’re not well. You have no dignity or privacy, and it’s a pretty brutal realisation when your brain’s working okay.”

Mr. Savage revealed that his injuries required him to relearn how to walk, calling the recovery process:

BRUTAL!”

His life has been permanently altered by the attack, and his injuries have been officially classified as life-changing.

Following a detailed investigation by officers from the local CID, a suspect was identified and arrested on Friday, 29 November.

Jasanth Sivanesa, 21 (born 18 May 2003), of Forrester Way, Stratford, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the assault. Mr. Sivanesa has been remanded into custody and is set to appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, 2 December.

In cases such as this, where attempted murder charges are brought, the prosecution must establish an intent to kill beyond reasonable doubt. If convicted, the sentence will reflect the severity of the injuries, the circumstances of the attack, and any aggravating or mitigating factors presented during the trial. Attempted murder carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment in the UK, although actual sentences vary depending on the case.

We will continue to follow this crime closely, providing updates on court proceedings and any subsequent verdicts or sentences.
