Police responded to the incident near Clapham Common, south London, at around 7.25pm on Wednesday.



In a shocking incident near Clapham Common, south London, a woman and her two young children have been hospitalized after a man launched a suspected corrosive substance attack at them. The Metropolitan Police swiftly responded to the distressing situation on Lessar Avenue at approximately 7:25 pm this Wednesday.


Notably, three additional individuals were also admitted to the hospital, their injuries incurred while attempting to assist the targeted family. In a disconcerting turn of events, three responding police officers suffered minor injuries during the incident.



Detective Superintendent Alexander Castle affirmed ongoing tests to identify the corrosive substance, stating, “While tests are ongoing to determine what the substance is, at this stage we believe it to be a corrosive substance.” Authorities are actively mobilizing resources across the Met to apprehend the assailant, with investigations underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding this distressing occurrence.



A man was observed fleeing the scene, and the police are diligently working towards his apprehension. Despite the intensity of the situation, no arrest has been made at this point, and authorities have committed to providing updates on the condition of the injured parties at the earliest opportunity.



Labour’s London Assembly member for Lambeth & Southwark, Marina Ahmad, brought attention to the incident via social media, stating: “There has been a traffic collision with a man assaulting occupants in a car and throwing acid. Victims include children.”
