Hi and welcome to this JK B'HAM Crime Report for VPN: REGIONAL NETWORKS:

HARIS GHAFFAR, 19, of Thornhill Road, Birmingham, has been sentenced to 20 months prison for his involvement in the recent unrest that shook the UK.

He had entered a guilty plea in court to the charge of violent disorder.

Ghaffar had been part of a mob that assembled to supposedly protect a mosque against an announced Far-Right gathering.

Bordesley Green witnessed shocking scenes from the Muslim group, apparently turning a Birmingham roundabout into a "no go area". Ghaffar was involved in smashing the windows of a Skoda car which had ventured into the territory, before being part of a group that assaulted a man in his 50's outside The Clumsy Swan pub in Stoney Lane, on August 5, as the group vainly sought far-right protesters.

Following the disorder, West Midlands Police issued an appeal to identify Ghaffar and other suspects, and he was arrested on 12 September, as a result.

Chief Superintendent Richard North, from Birmingham Police, said: "This sentence shows that we do not tolerate violence in our towns and cities.

"We would like to thank members of the public for sharing our appeal which was crucial to identify the offender."

Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
