Hi and welcome to this Video Production News Court Report:

Former School Employee Sentenced for Sexual Offenses:
Following a swift investigation by the Met’s Child Abuse Investigation Team, Michael Commettant, a former school support worker in south London, has been sentenced for sex offenses. Commettant, employed as a learning behavior mentor, was apprehended after concerns were raised by the school regarding his conduct.
Acting promptly, police arrested Commettant the day after the school reported the issue. Subsequent examination of digital devices revealed his inappropriate communication with a teenage girl, leading to charges of sexual activity and incitement.
After being charged, a further a search was carried out at his home, and his digital devices were seized and examined. The team was able to determine that he had communicated with the victim via a secret email account, and had tried to hide messages sent by him, to her.
However, detectives were able to very quickly build a picture of his offending and discovered how he had groomed the teenager by examining phone records.
These proved he had called the victim multiple times from a withheld number, meaning he had broken the safeguarding practices he had agreed to follow in his role at the school. During interview, he stayed silent and instead gave a prepared statement.
Despite attempts to conceal evidence, detectives quickly pieced together his offenses, uncovering his grooming tactics through phone records. Commettant pleaded guilty in September 2023, and on April 17th, was sentenced to 18 months in Woolwich Crown Court.
Detective Constable Isa Hemphrey, leading the investigation, expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, condemning Commettant's breach of trust. She commended her team's dedication and urged victims to come forward, assuring them of support from law enforcement.
Upon release, Commettant will be on the sex offenders register for a decade and monitored by the Met’s Jigsaw team to prevent further offenses.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next report, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all please stay safe, and we'll see you then.
