Hi and welcome to this Video Production News sentencing report:

Aminan Rahman, the man who murdered his wife Suma Begum in a horrifying act witnessed via a TikTok video call, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 22 years. This verdict was delivered at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 30 July, following a month-long trial.
Rahman, 46, from Bridgewater, Somerset, had been found guilty of murdering 24-year-old Suma Begum on 3 July. The court heard that Rahman had gaslit, manipulated, financially controlled, and assaulted Suma before ultimately strangling her in front of her two children and her online boyfriend, Shahin Miah, who was in the UAE.
The murder, captured on video, showed Rahman threatening and attacking Suma. After the horrific act, he stuffed her body into a suitcase and disposed of it in the River Lea, hoping it would be washed away. Her decomposed body was discovered 10 days later by a mudlarker on the riverbank in Thamesmead.
Rahman was arrested on 2 May 2023, after Suma’s friends and family reported her missing. He initially denied knowing her whereabouts but was charged with murder on 4 May 2023. Additional evidence included CCTV footage tracing Rahman's movements and the crucial video call recording handed to the police by Mr. Miah.
In a televised sentencing, Mr. Justice Bennathan condemned Rahman's actions, describing Suma Begum as a "lively, attractive young woman and a devoted mother" who deserved to pursue her dreams of a different life. The judge highlighted the shocking nature of the crime, emphasizing Rahman's deliberate and calculated efforts to hide Suma's body.
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, the lead investigator, stated: "This case demonstrates that Met detectives will do everything possible to build as strong a case as possible against those who perpetrate acts of domestic violence." She acknowledged the extensive efforts of her team in analyzing hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and retrieving the vital video call, which played a crucial role in securing the conviction.
In a victim impact statement, Suma’s half-brother Abdul Amin described Rahman as an "evil man" and condemned the act of violence that took away his sister’s life. He emphasized that no woman should ever be killed by their husband or partner, regardless of cultural or personal circumstances.
Rahman had also been accused of attacking Suma in February 2023, with evidence showing scratches on her neck. Despite his claims of acting in defense of his children, the prosecution firmly rejected his assertions, painting a picture of a man driven by jealousy and rage.
With Rahman now behind bars, justice has been served for Suma Begum, but the impact of this tragic case will resonate with her family and friends for years to come.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
