Hi, and welcome to this Video Production News Update:

"Welcome to the harrowing account of a Deliveroo driver's nightmare at a Costa café in East London. What began as a routine day took a terrifying turn when the rider, in an act of bravery, tried to apprehend a bike thief. Little did he know, this brave deed would lead to a life-altering confrontation.

In the heart of Mile End Road, chaos erupted as the thief, Mohammed Shohid, brandished a knife, plunging it into the delivery worker's chest in front of horrified onlookers. The victim, whose injuries were severe, spent weeks fighting for his life in intensive care, his dreams of pursuing a plumbing career shattered.

Speaking about the incident, the victim bravely shared, 'The incident has left me physically, mentally, and emotionally shattered. Simple tasks have become insurmountable challenges. I don’t trust any new people. I’m always scared they might attack me with a knife.'

At Inner London Crown Court, Shohid faced justice, though not as severe as many hoped. Despite being found guilty of wounding with intent, Shohid avoided the attempted murder charge. His defense cited his troubled upbringing and low IQ as contributing factors to his reckless actions.

In a courtroom packed with tension, Judge Benedict Kelleher delivered a sentence of seven-and-a-half years in prison, with an additional four years on licence due to the danger Shohid poses to society. While justice was served, questions linger over whether the punishment fits the severity of the crime.
