Metropolitan Police have dealt a decisive blow to the nefarious activities of Al-Arfat Hassan, a 21-year-old drill rapper from Enfield, who had a fairly substantial following, and his 17-year-old partner in crime. The duo has been convicted and sentenced for terrorism offenses, revealing a chilling tale of radicalization and extremist camaraderie.

The investigation sprang into action when Hassan, a semi-famous B List Drill Rapper, was apprehended at Heathrow Airport under ‘Schedule 7’ powers. What followed was an expose of their twisted online alliance, brimming with extremist views and fervent support for Daesh.
Sorting through an extensive trove of messages, law enforcement uncovered a disturbing repertoire of criminal intent. From DIY knife attack tutorials to bomb-making instructions, Hassan had more than just lyrics up his sleeve.
His collection of chemicals for a potential explosive device added a grim reality to the situation. Detective Chief Superintendent Gareth Rees emphasized the crucial role of proactive policing and Schedule 7 powers in dismantling potential threats.
The collaborative investigation between Met’s counter-terrorism unit and their North East counterparts unraveled the depth of Hassan’s involvement. A closer look at his phone revealed a damning shopping list for terror-related materials. The 17-year-old accomplice, identified through online connections, further solidified the case. Over 400,000 messages laid bare their journey into radicalization.
At the Old Bailey hearing on February 2, Al-Arfat Hassan, the once-celebrated drill rapper, received a harsh seven-year sentence, with a minimum of five years behind bars. He faced charges for collecting terror information and had previously pleaded guilty to hoarding chemicals for terror purposes. The 17-year-old co-conspirator was handed a three-and-a-half-year stint, including a year on license, for similar charges
To further illuminate Hassans state of mind, the court was told that after an argument on 17 December last year his girlfriend told him in a message: "Go find someone who'll accept you for who you are after everything u say n do."
But Hassan responded: "U cant break up w me, u dont have that choice or option in ur life man. "Ima f**kin blow sh*t up. U took a oath that u would never leave me. What happened to that?
"Watch the blood, the torment, the terror, the pain, the screaming, the agony. All of it is cos of u, n wat u just said. " The court heard that earlier that day, the pair had argued over whether the girlfriend could see her eight-year-old male cousin.
Hassan left her a rambling voice note saying: "I'm legit telling you, no you're not going in front of your cousins and if you want to go in front of your cousins I'll f**king smash them up in front of you.
"You're not allowed to free mix like that. And then what? It's just always a problem - 'Oh no he's 8 he's 9.' Bruv in Islam if they're 8 you cannot, they're a man."
The court was also told that there had been an earlier argument on 22 November, in which the girlfriend said she was not going to apologise for her phone dying and "using that opportunity to go and pray and help my mum".
But Hassan told her: "Then i'll be the monster ive always wanted to be, n i promise everyone i will not go back on it.
"Long story short, im on 0 tolerance cos carnage must happen it just has to, or ppl wont change. Thats me done."
The court also heard that the two also had a jealous argument over whether she was allowed to travel at night without a guardian in which Hassan told her that feminism was forbidden in Islam.
