Hi and welcome to this Jason King Insight.

Curtis Hendrickson, a 34-year-old from Erdington, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 20 years for appalling crimes against two women in Birmingham.
Hendrickson's repeated rapes and assaults demonstrated a callous disregard for his victims.
Hendrickson perceived vulnerable women struggling with housing as an easy target, but was not prepared for their resolve.
He had originally posed as the saviour and hero of his first victim, trying to retrieve her phone from a group who had stolen it from her. He posed as a capable individual, declaring he was backed up by a network of powerful individuals in the form of a local gang. He was thus able to cloak himself and projecting the image of a well-intentioned, competent & protective male figure.
However, at the hands of Hendrickson, victims were subjected to unimaginable ordeals. When his first victim tried to signal for help at a fast food restaurant, he brandished a knife, held it to her throat and threatened to kill her, using brutality to maintain the position of dominance he had assumed. This was a man with harmful intentions who could not afford for his control or dominance to be challenged.
This predator could have gone on to commit many more offences if this first victim had not had the insight and bravery to confide in trustworthy individuals who contacted relevant authorities. Hendrickson had not anticipated the resolve of victims to return to a free life and not let enslavement to an abuser become their new norm.
Our glimpse into his shadowy world gains in detail as we hear how he moved from one victim to another, subjecting them to brutal assaults and heinous sexual abuse.
When a second victim sought to escape his dominance of her, seeking help at a garage, she was badly beaten and clothed in nothing but a curtain. No doubt she had been forced to use all her wits and a great deal of courage to slip the grasp of her abuser.
These women were able to provide West Midlands Police all they needed to set about building a case, and then arrest Hendrickson.
The justice system first ensured that the truth was revealed, as, despite initially denying his guilt, Hendrickson eventually pleaded guilty to all charges during his trial. He pleaded guilty to 11 rapes and a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, involving the two brave survivors of his abuse, at Birmingham Crown Court.
Hendrickson faces consequences for his vile acts in the form of a lengthy 20-year prison sentence imposed. This not only serves as a deterrent to others but also reinforces society's commitment to protecting its members from exploitation and abuse.
His arrest, followed by a decisive sentencing, sends a clear message that such egregious violations will not be tolerated.
Robert Mackinnon, an adult abuse investigation officer at Public Protection, emphasized the bravery of the victims in coming forward and the importance of their testimonies in securing Hendrickson's conviction.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
