Hi and welcome to this JK B'HAM Crime Report for VPN: REGIONAL NETWORKS:

A man who targeted a teenager girl in Leicester, grooming her and raping in one day, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, following the diligent efforts of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit (CAIU) detectives.
The teenage victim provided vital information through interactions with specialist officers. Razak had approached her and groomed her by seeming friendly, buying her food and taking her to a cinema. He bought alcohol before taking her to a guesthouse near Hinckley Road where he carried out the assault.
The incident was reported in July 2023 with the victim only able to recall scant details about the suspect or the crime scene. Despite this, the specialist team conducted thorough investigations, including analyzing extensive CCTV footage, which ultimately led to the arrest of Aluwas Razak.
The CAIU's meticulous review of CCTV footage traced Razak's movements, including withdrawing cash and purchasing vodka. Detective Constable Sophie Bruce identified Razak on 25 July while carrying out enquiries nearby, leading to his arrest and subsequent charge.
Razak, aged 30, residing on Stretton Road, Leicester, was charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He was found guilty in January at Leicester Crown Court and sentenced on 16 July to 11 years in prison. He also received a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be registered as a sex offender.
Detective Inspector Kevin Hames commended the victim's bravery and the team's relentless efforts to secure the conviction, emphasizing the unit’s commitment to protecting children and prosecuting offenders.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
